Nepal Tourist Visa Overview
Nepal offers a tourist visa on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu, as well as at several land border crossings. The visa is available to citizens of most countries (excluding India, which has a separate treaty arrangement).
Visa options and costs
- 15-day tourist visa: $25
- 30-day tourist visa: $40
- 90-day tourist visa: $100
Extending your Nepal visa
You can extend your tourist visa at the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu or Pokhara. Extensions cost $3 per day for the first 60 days and $5 per day thereafter. You can stay a maximum of 150 days per visa year.
Tips for digital nomads
- Get the 90-day visa on arrival if you plan a long stay — it saves multiple trips to immigration
- Keep your hotel receipts and onward travel evidence
- The immigration office in Lazimpat, Kathmandu is efficient — usually 30–60 minutes
